"Artistry in Portraiture"
Helen Barbara Ash, Owner/Photographer
About the Photographer...
Helen did the unthinkable and opened this studio
essentially on impulse back in 1985. Fascinated with her father's cameras and
photography from an early age, she took photographs "for fun" throughout high
school and college. Eventually she hoped to merge her love of photography with
her academic background in biology and environmental science. But opportunities
in photography beckoned first. She worked for several years as photographer for
a small, weekly, award-winning newspaper, while taking photography courses,
free-lancing weddings, and honing her skills. When unexpectedly confronted with
the opportunity to open a studio, she took the plunge - and not only survived,
but thrived!
She enjoys the creativity, the chance to work with clients of all ages, and the variety that owning a portrait studio offers. And evidently her customers love her work, too, if their raves and return visits are an indication of their satisfaction!

"I particularly enjoy working with children...As a mother, I know how very quickly these years pass, and how fleeting is the innocence and wonder of childhood. As a photographer, it's my desire, and challenge, to portray the essence of a child's journey through childhood. At each of the various steps along the way --- infancy, toddlerhood, preschool, school years and young adulthood -- I strive to capture those tender expressions, the special moments and relationships, the soft fine features, and the lively spirit of the ever changing child." |
Helen is a member of both the Professional Photographers of America and the Professional Photographers Association of New Jersey and has studied at at the prestigious Winona International School of Professional Photography in Mt. Prospect, Illinois.
